Whitefoot is a very rare subspecies of the red fox called the Cascade red fox (Vulpes Vulpes Cascadensis). If you’ve visited Mount Rainier National Park over the past few years, you may have seen her en route to Paradise, roadside with sleepy eyes, sitting like a trained pet begging for a treat.
I’ve been working with biologists to research her at-risk subspecies, and am writing an article to share her incredible story of longevity and survival amongst tourism and climate change.
Stay tuned! (And in the meantime – please don’t feed the fox!)
